Me describiría a mi mismo como
I have been single for most of my adult life, so I do not need someone to rescue me or support me. By the same token I do not want someone that I have to rescue or support either, as I have already done my share of caretaking in bad relationships over the years. I want a partnership that supports each other as best as possible, with love, commitment, humor, communication, and honesty. We do not need to be joined at the hip, nor necessarily enjoy all of the same things, but we do need to value the desires and interests of our partner, even if we don’t wish to participate in all their choices. That also takes trust, that can only come with time & security.
I am still working full time in a job that is my passion so I don’t anticipate retiring for a few more years, but being self-employed, I can plan vacations and time off as needed. I would love to find someone who loves to travel as much as I do and enjoys experiencing the culture, language, and customs of other places, as well as the spectacular beauty of nature & National Parks.
I am a lover of people, both the old and the young, having been an elementary teacher, a deep tissue bodyworker, & now a provider of Compassionate Touch work for the elderly, chronic pain sufferers, and dementia & hospice patients. As difficult as this work can be, I love ministering to this population who are so in need of tender touch and attention. My soul is rejuvenated when I return home to my household of rescue animals who greet me with joy, delight, and unconditional love.
I live in Flagstaff because it is one of the only Democratic cities in our state, so obviously I am an extremely left-wing liberal. If that is a problem for you, then stop reading now because I won’t change and I’m not sure that I could coexist with someone who is extremely conservative in their viewpoints and attitudes in life. I am by nature a caretaker, and a caregiver, and I wish to be with someone who is as compassionate for others as I am. My mother taught me well to be kind and loving to all I meet, and I will not surround myself with negativity and prejudice. If we can’t all learn to live together in harmony and tolerance & acceptance, then what is the purpose in us being here? After all, I am one of the perfect examples of being a child of the 60s… And proud of it! We wanted to change the world for the better, and I’m still happily working towards that goal, in my own way, in my own life. Because after all, that is all we can do: to make our own little world a better place, and hope that the slow, quiet progress ripples outward.
Good luck on finding the right person just for you, but it may take time & patience & tolerance. But at our age, we probably have plenty of all of those!
