Greetings, my name is Larry. I'm a retired hospital pharmacist with 37 years at the same institution. I retired somewhat early when my wife got sick so as to take care of her full time. I lost her in 2008 after being ill for about a year. Since then I've been alone and am not finding it the most agreeable situation. I have no close friends and have a vanishingly small family: two sisters in Virginia and my son who lives locally. I'm of a retiring nature and don't get out a whole lot. I have a dry (almost dessicated) sense of humor. My taste in music is entirely classical except opera. Dennis the Menace once truly noted that opera was just screaming in a foreign language. I am something of a student of British culture and enjoy history, especially the American Civil War. I follow all things scientific closely and always look forward to the next discovery. That pretty much describes my tastes in TV watching and literature. I have to admit I really can't pass up a good British murder mystery. I piddle around with amateur wood working. Just looking for a LOCAL lady who enjoys good, intelligent conversation, meals out and hopefully has a broader view of life than I now possess.
