I Would Describe Myself As

My friends would likely describe me as honest, kind, fun, positive, athletic, and happy. Having taught English and History for many years, I think they'd probably refer to me as well as articulate and well read. They've also told me that my best features are my blue eyes and slightly aquiline profile.

The vast majority of my early years growing up and during my teaching career was spent on the east coast in an affluent, Cape Cod town, where the climate for most winter and spring months tended to be wet, cloudy, and dark. I always seemed to love the sunny climates of my college days in Boulder, Colorado and the Navy time in San Diego; but it wasn't until I turned 60 that I realized my dream of moving finally to sun-drenched, southern California-- prompting a literal rejuvenation in me, physically, mentally, and spiritually-- in short, I adore the desert. The palm trees, mountains, and lush vegetation that surround me in the Palm Springs/Coachella Valley area reinforce my joie d' vivre on a daily basis. And despite life's inevitable hard knocks, I've learned "little-by-slow" that true happiness resides within oneself.

I've been blessed by a lifetime regimen of competitive running, skiing, squash, and high level tennis that have kept me young and active; I still pride myself a bit for wearing the same size clothes and weighing the 180 pounds as back in high school during the 60s.

Today I live alone in a beautiful home in Indian Wells, with a pool that is surrounded by the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains; friends and visitors always seem to be thrilled by the "perfect climate." Tennis or exercise are integral parts of most days, but I still prefer to work at a part-time job (not teaching, thank you) that I love. Indeed, I'll be forever grateful for what I have, but still yearn to discover that very special woman with whom to share life's bounty.
