Ik beschrijf mezelf als:

I lead a quiet, but busy life. I have varied interests, all of them involving people and animals. I'm an active volunteer in the community and have a wide circle of friends. I'm lacking someone special who could just sit quietly and enjoy a sunset or travel around the world, depending on the mood of the moment. I'm beginning to live for the moment, not planning everything so carefully as I have in the past. Physically, I am about 5'3", average build, and in excellent health. I cannot evaluate the level of my beauty (or lack of it), but I don't scare myself when I look in the mirror, and I'm told I look younger than my actual age. It's hard to describe oneself, but I guess I see myself as a quiet, modest, thoughtful, gentle person, feminine, but with strength, and with definite social and political views. I'm a moderate to left-leaning Democrat. I'm spiritual, but not embracing of formal religion though I appreciate the teachings of all the great religions. I love animals but don't have a pet at the moment.

I've been told that I have a rather quirky sense of humor, and, in fact, I love to laugh. The old PBS Britcoms, Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm - even the old Carol Burnett shows - I love them all. But what I love most are my family, friends, and my home. Reading, walking, good conversation, an occasional drink of wine or other spirits, music of all kinds bring me enormous pleasure. I feel comfortable within myself although I am definitely not perfect and am always trying to be better. I have been a widow for several years and have gotten through that life transition by giving and receiving much love from my friends. I have wonderful children and grandchildren who bring me incredible joy.

While finding someone to love would be wonderful, I really have no expectation of that. I'm simply hoping to find a good friend who might want to spend pleasant, comfortable and interesting moments with me. And, I'm admittedly a little tentative about even registering in the computer-dating arena, so I approach this with a nothing ventured/nothing gained attitude.

Een perfecte eerste date is

Assuming a connection has been made and the two participants are interested in a formal date, I would think an outing to the beach or dinner and a movie with time afterward to talk and learn more about one another would be good. A walk in the woods - really is there an "ideal" first date? I think it is an occasion that is mutually comfortable to both parties that makes both want another date.

Mijn Idee Van Plezier is

Hop in the car and travel new roads. Maybe stop off and check out a local eatery and a new town. All of this is better with one or more good friends. Getting to a final destination, like the beach, or the desert, and checking in to a pleasant place, staying the night, and having fun exploring. And lots of chat. Alternatively, a good movie or play is always fun. Lastly, I love my home and am happy to just be "in" enjoying a good book, a movie, etc. A person can find fun anytime; anywhere.

I like people who care about themselves and take good care of themselves. This translates to caring about others, too. I like kind, intelligent, caring men who are not threatened by independent women. Personal strength and independence is appealing, too.
